Namibia Celebrates Strong Podium Finish at the 27th Happy Cup in Belgium. Namibia’s rhythmic gymnastics team has returned home with two medals following their participation in the 27th Happy Cup in Drongen, Belgium, held from 7 to 10 November 2025. The international event brought together athletes from several countries, including Belgium, Ukraine, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, offering a competitive stage for emerging and experienced gymnasts.

Representing the Namibian Gymnastics Federation (NGF) and the Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, the eight-member team delivered a series of commendable performances. In the Under-9 category, Zara Duchaine secured a gold medal for her ball routine, earning top honours in her event and placing seventh overall. Her achievement marked one of Namibia’s standout moments at the competition.

In the junior division, Kenandjo Mupia captured a bronze medal for her ribbon sequence, adding another podium finish for Namibia. Her performance reflected strong technical execution and consistency throughout the event. In the Under-12 category, Jayd Pretorius also competed with determination, finishing 21st in a large and competitive field.

The team’s participation was supported by experienced officials and coaches. NGF Rhythmic Section Coordinator Britt Adonis-Byl and coach Roumiana Kostin both served as FIG Brevet judges during the tournament, contributing to the event’s officiating while guiding the Namibian athletes. Coach Eleonora Karamfilova also formed part of the delegation, offering technical and performance support to the gymnasts.

The results highlight Namibia’s continued progress in rhythmic gymnastics on the international stage. Participation in events such as the Happy Cup provides athletes with exposure, experience and the opportunity to measure their skills against global competitors.
