MIME Launches EDRMS to Drive Digital Transformation

MIME Launches EDRMS to Drive Digital Transformation. The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) has officially launched the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), marking a significant milestone in modernising government operations and advancing Namibia’s digital transformation agenda.

The system is designed to enhance efficiency, improve document tracking, and ensure faster, more secure access to official records. By streamlining processes, EDRMS will strengthen service delivery to the public while reinforcing transparency and accountability within the Ministry.

The implementation of EDRMS aligns with the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) pillar on e-governance, which calls for the adoption of digital solutions to improve public sector performance. The system also supports proper records management in line with national archives protocols, ensuring that government information is securely preserved, systematically organised, and easily retrievable for institutional memory and compliance purposes.

Officials highlighted that the launch represents more than a technological upgrade; it is a step toward embedding digital culture within government institutions. By reducing reliance on manual processes, the Ministry aims to improve responsiveness, reduce administrative delays, and create a more transparent environment for stakeholders and citizens.

The EDRMS initiative underscores Namibia’s commitment to leveraging technology as a driver of socio-economic development. It reflects a broader vision of building a digitally empowered public sector capable of meeting the demands of modern governance.

With the system now live, MIME reaffirmed its dedication to continuous innovation and collaboration, ensuring that digital transformation remains central to its mission of delivering efficient, accountable, and citizen-focused services.
