ICT Ministry Brings Cyber Safety and National Symbols Awareness to Kunene Schools

ICT Ministry Brings Cyber Safety and National Symbols Awareness to Kunene Schools. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology conducted information-sharing sessions at Putuavanga Secondary School and Otjerunda Combined School during a working visit to the Kunene Region.

The sessions focused on cybersecurity awareness and the National Symbols campaign, targeting both learners and teachers. The initiative aimed to promote responsible digital behaviour while strengthening understanding of national identity.

During the engagements, ministry representatives discussed the hygienic use of online platforms, offering practical guidance on how to navigate digital spaces safely. Learners were introduced to key tips and guidelines designed to encourage safer use of cyberspace, including the importance of protecting personal information and understanding online risks.

The programme also highlighted the ethical use of social media, emphasizing respectful communication and responsible content sharing. Teachers participated alongside learners, supporting a whole-school approach to digital awareness and online conduct.

In addition to cybersecurity topics, the sessions included education on National Symbols. This component of the campaign sought to deepen awareness and understanding of national identity markers and their significance.

By combining digital safety education with civic awareness, the Ministry’s outreach aimed to equip school communities with knowledge relevant to both the online environment and national heritage.

The visit to Putuavanga Secondary School and Otjerunda Combined School forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to share information directly with communities, ensuring that learners and educators are included in conversations about safe technology use and national awareness.

Through these sessions, participants were provided with structured guidance to help them make informed decisions in digital spaces while strengthening their understanding of National Symbols.
