Hanga and Breed Triumph in Namport Nedbank Powerhouse Challenge 100km Road Race. The Namport Nedbank Powerhouse Challenge concluded earlier today in Walvis Bay with the 100km road race, marking the final leg of the competition. Cyclists from across the region took to the coastal route, facing strong headwinds and challenging conditions that tested endurance and strategy.
Petrus Hanga claimed victory in the men’s 100km category after an intense sprint finish that kept spectators on edge until the final moments. Louise Breed secured the women’s title, maintaining consistent form throughout the race to cross the finish line ahead of her competitors.
The event brought together professional and amateur cyclists, highlighting both competitive spirit and community participation. Walvis Bay’s open roads and coastal winds provided a fitting stage for the finale of the Powerhouse Challenge, which continues to grow in stature within Namibia’s cycling calendar.
Organised with the support of Nedbank Namibia and Namport, the Powerhouse Challenge promotes fitness, endurance, and sporting excellence while contributing to the visibility of cycling as one of Namibia’s rapidly developing sports. The event also underscores the role of corporate partnerships in nurturing athletic talent and encouraging active lifestyles within local communities.
Despite the tough weather conditions, the day ended on a high note with cyclists and supporters celebrating the spirit of perseverance and sportsmanship that defined the race.
