Botswana Defence Force Explores Namibia’s Mineral Heritage at Natural Earth Science Museum. The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) yesterday hosted a delegation from the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Senior Command and Staff Course, Class 17 of 2025, for a guided tour of Namibia’s Natural Earth Science Museum. The visit was part of the BDF’s ongoing Geo-Strategic tour in Namibia.
During the tour, the delegation had the opportunity to explore exhibits highlighting Namibia’s diverse mineral resources and geological history. The museum serves as a central hub for preserving knowledge about the country’s natural resources and promoting understanding of the role these resources play in national development.
MIME officials provided detailed briefings on key exhibits, including mineral formations, mining technologies, and Namibia’s contributions to the Southern African mining sector. The visit aimed to enhance the delegation’s awareness of the strategic significance of natural resources and their impact on economic and security considerations.
The tour also provided a platform for discussions on resource management, sustainability, and the importance of leveraging geological knowledge for national planning and policy formulation. Delegates were able to gain insights into how Namibia preserves and showcases its mineral heritage for educational and strategic purposes.
The visit forms part of broader engagements between Botswana and Namibia that seek to strengthen regional understanding and cooperation in areas such as resource management, security, and economic development. By exposing military leaders to the geological wealth of neighbouring countries, the programme aims to foster informed strategic decision-making that considers both natural and economic landscapes.
