Bank Windhoek Showcases Digital Tools Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Oshikoto. Bank Windhoek’s SME Business Bank representative, Ms. Magreth Muhenje, delivered a presentation on practical financial solutions for women entrepreneurs at the Oshikoto Regional Women in Business Association seminar. Her address focused on how new digital tools are reshaping access to finance by prioritising convenience, security and improved business management.
Ms. Muhenje outlined that financial support for small businesses now extends beyond traditional loans. She emphasised that digital tools are increasingly important for entrepreneurs who need faster, safer and more flexible ways to manage daily transactions.
One of the key solutions presented was EasyPOS, a tool that transforms a smartphone or tablet into a mobile point-of-sale device. This enables women business owners to accept card payments wherever they operate. According to Ms. Muhenje, the ability to process payments on the spot helps small businesses increase sales opportunities and enhances the professional image of vendors who previously relied only on cash.
She also highlighted the Business Wallet, a platform designed to streamline bulk payments. The solution allows businesses to pay up to 50 workers or suppliers daily, with amounts of up to N$5 000 per recipient. Payments can be sent directly to cellphone numbers, even if the recipients do not have bank accounts. This feature is particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs who work with casual labour or suppliers who are paid frequently, especially in industries such as construction, transport and small-scale services.
Ms. Muhenje noted that both tools give women business owners greater control over their finances by improving transparency, reducing cash-handling risks and allowing them to track payments digitally. She added that these advancements support stronger business operations by making financial processes more efficient and secure.
Bank Windhoek’s participation in the seminar formed part of ongoing efforts to support women-led enterprises through accessible digital solutions tailored to everyday business needs.
