Baierkraft Selects Namibia as Motorcycle Assembly Hub

Baierkraft Selects Namibia as Motorcycle Assembly Hub. German motorcycle brand Baierkraft has announced that Namibia will serve as the primary assembly hub for its state-of-the-art motorcycles, marking a significant milestone for the country’s automotive industry. The decision is expected to create substantial job opportunities and position Namibia as a central player in Africa’s growing motorcycle market.

Baierkraft was founded by Torben Baier, an engineer with extensive global experience in large-scale automotive systems, including project management roles on the Audi A4 and A5 facelift models. Despite personal health challenges, Baier pursued his vision of building motorcycles tailored to Africa’s demanding conditions, leading to the establishment of Baierkraft four years ago. The company is preparing to launch its first pre-series in Namibia in August 2026.

Baier explained that Namibia’s landscapes and climate influenced the decision to locate the hub in the country. He emphasized that demand for individual mobility in emerging markets is rising, yet many existing products fail to meet local needs. “The African continent lacks motorcycles truly suited to local conditions. Our goal has always been to build the perfect motorcycle for tough regions: a bike that keeps working under heavy loads, in heat and dust, and over time,” he said.

The company’s flagship model, the ORYX 300, will be assembled in Namibia for distribution across East, West, and Southern Africa. Designed with a 300cc petrol engine, the frame is versatile enough to accommodate other engines, including future electric options. The ORYX logo symbolizes strength and adaptability, while its steel and amber colors represent endurance.

Baierkraft anticipates employing over 200 Namibians by 2027, supported by partnerships with German institutions such as the University of Kiel, University of Aachen, and University of Flensburg. The company highlighted its focus on minimizing downtime costs for customers, with service and support built into its operations from day one.

With affordability at the core of its mission, Baierkraft aims to deliver motorcycles that are accessible to Namibians while revolutionizing mobility across the continent.,
