Applications Open for Fully Funded Green Hydrogen Scholarships in ||Kharas and Hardap. The Youth for Green Hydrogen (Y4H2) Scholarship Programme has officially opened its third call, offering fully funded opportunities for Namibian youth aged 18 to 35 from the ||Kharas and Hardap regions to pursue technical and vocational education and training (TVET) aligned with the green hydrogen value chain.
Applications are open from 7 to 18 July 2025, with an outreach campaign scheduled from 7 to 11 July 2025 across all 15 constituencies in the two southern regions. The campaign aims to ensure inclusive access and engagement, bringing information directly to communities to maximise participation.
The Y4H2 scholarship is implemented by the Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL), with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The programme forms part of the Joint Communiqué of Intent (JCoI) between the governments of Namibia and Germany, which prioritises youth empowerment and climate-smart development.

The initiative is designed to build local capacity in support of Namibia’s emerging green hydrogen sector. It focuses on equipping young people with skills relevant to sustainable energy production, environmental stewardship, and economic transformation.
The programme partners include academic and research institutions such as the University of Namibia (UNAM), Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), and Forschungszentrum Jülich, alongside regional stakeholders and technical experts.
