TVET Directorate Brings Career Guidance to Windhoek Technical High School. The Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture visited Windhoek Technical High School today as part of its ongoing schools outreach programme, aimed at bringing career guidance and awareness directly to learners.
The initiative is designed to inspire students to explore opportunities in TVET fields, while highlighting the importance of vocational training in building practical skills, creating employment, and fostering a self-reliant Namibia. By engaging learners at the school level, the Directorate seeks to strengthen awareness of the diverse career paths available through technical and vocational education.
During the session, officials emphasized that TVET is not only about skills development but also about empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to the economy. Learners were encouraged to consider vocational training as a pathway to sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and national development.
The outreach programme reflects the Ministry’s broader commitment to ensuring that education systems are inclusive and responsive to the needs of both students and the labour market. By connecting directly with learners, the Directorate aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical career opportunities.
Teachers and students welcomed the initiative, noting that such engagements provide valuable insight into career planning and help broaden perspectives on future possibilities. The visit also reinforced the role of vocational education in addressing unemployment and equipping young Namibians with skills that are in demand across industries.
As the outreach sessions continue, the Directorate of TVET remains focused on expanding its impact, ensuring that more schools benefit from direct engagement and that learners are empowered to make informed choices about their futures.
