NAC Investigates Data Breach Threat by Ransomware Group. The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has confirmed that the INC Ransomware Group claims to have exfiltrated 500 GB of NAC data, detected on 6 March 2026, with threats to release the information on the dark web.
In a statement, NAC emphasized that airport operations across all NAC-managed facilities remain functional, despite the incident. Investigations are currently underway to determine the scope and impact of the breach.
As a precautionary measure, NAC has intensified its system security and monitoring protocols, while engaging with relevant authorities and cybersecurity partners to address the matter. The company noted that safeguarding critical infrastructure and sensitive information remains a top priority.
NAC reiterated its commitment to transparency, assuring stakeholders that updates will be provided as credible evidence emerges. The organization stressed that while the threat is being taken seriously, operational continuity has not been compromised.
Cybersecurity experts highlight that ransomware groups often use data exfiltration as leverage, threatening public release to pressure organizations. NAC’s proactive measures, including collaboration with external partners, reflect a broader effort to mitigate risks and strengthen resilience against cyber threats.
The incident underscores the growing challenges faced by organizations managing critical infrastructure, where digital security is as vital as physical operations. For NAC, the focus remains on maintaining safe and efficient airport services while addressing the breach with urgency and accountability.
