Namibia and Congo Deepen Ties at 5th Joint Commission of CCooperation. The two-day 5th Session of the Namibia-Congo Joint Commission of Cooperation (NCJCC) concluded successfully in Windhoek on 20 February 2025, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthen bilateral relations and advance Pan-African solidarity.

The NCJCC was co-chaired by Honourable Ambassador Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, and Honourable Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, Congo’s Minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnership. The ministers emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation to enable African nations to negotiate common positions at multilateral fora, ensuring stronger representation of continental interests.

Both sides agreed that regional economic communities remain vital building blocks for intra-African trade and integration. The Commission underscored shared interest in expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including diplomatic and political affairs, defence, education, arts and culture, energy, trade, agriculture, ports, petroleum, fisheries, and aquaculture.

During the session, Namibia and Congo signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The first focused on Political and Diplomatic Consultations, while the second addressed Technical and Vocational Education, reflecting the countries’ commitment to institutional collaboration and capacity building.

The outcomes of the NCJCC highlight the growing partnership between Namibia and Congo, rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision for sustainable development. By strengthening cooperation in key sectors, the two nations aim to enhance economic resilience, foster cultural exchange, and contribute to continental integration.

The successful conclusion of the 5th NCJCC marks another step in consolidating bilateral ties, positioning Namibia and Congo as active contributors to Africa’s collective progress in diplomacy, trade, and human development.
