Sam Nujoma Stadium Upgrades Move Ahead as Structural Works Continue. Renovation work at Sam Nujoma Stadium is advancing, with construction teams currently focused on the open stands as part of a broader infrastructure upgrade.
The project, which began late last year, has already seen significant demolition activity. Concrete stairs located behind the open stands have been removed, along with most of the concrete slabs in the same section. These steps mark the early phase of work aimed at preparing the structure for further repairs and improvements.
The next stage of the renovation will involve removing seating panels. This will allow workers access to the underlying structure, where bolts and nuts are set to be installed to strengthen stability and enhance safety. The process is intended to address structural components that are not visible during normal stadium use but are critical to the long term integrity of the facility.
Pasanapehe Muvangua, site agent for New Success Investment, the contractor overseeing the project, said work is progressing smoothly. He noted that there have been no major challenges so far and that teams on site remain focused on meeting project targets. According to Muvangua, workers are continuing with their tasks as scheduled to ensure steady progress.
The renovation of Sam Nujoma Stadium forms part of wider efforts to improve municipal sports infrastructure. Upgrades are aimed at ensuring facilities meet required safety standards while also improving the overall experience for users.
Completion of the project is scheduled for October, in line with the contractual timeline. Once finalised, the improvements are expected to contribute to a safer and more functional environment for sporting and community events hosted at the stadium.
