Call Reopens for Southern African Heritage Narrative Grants Ahead of February Deadline

Call Reopens for Southern African Heritage Narrative Grants Ahead of February Deadline. A renewed call for proposals has been announced for grants supporting the co-creation of heritage narratives in Southern Africa, offering non-profit and non-governmental organisations another opportunity to apply for funding under the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Southern Africa programme.

The call is open to eligible organisations based in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. According to the programme announcement, selected organisations will receive grants to lead narrative clusters that bring together artists, creatives and local communities to develop collaborative heritage projects.

The funded projects will be implemented over a period of 15 months and will focus on creating narratives that bring heritage to life through collaborative and creative approaches. Organisations awarded grants will be responsible for coordinating partnerships, facilitating collaboration, and guiding the development of the narratives within their clusters.

The Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Southern Africa initiative forms part of broader cultural cooperation efforts between Africa and Europe. The programme places emphasis on collaboration, shared storytelling and cultural exchange, with participating organisations expected to work closely with communities and creative practitioners throughout the project lifecycle.

Interested organisations are encouraged to review the full call details to confirm eligibility requirements, funding criteria and application guidelines before submitting proposals. Information about the programme, including the scope of the grants and expectations for selected projects, is available on the official programme website at www.goethe.de/aepc.

Applications must be submitted online through the Goethe-Institut’s Gap Portal at https://portal.gap.goethe.de/en-US/. The application deadline has been set for 13 February 2026.

The reopening of the call provides organisations that may have missed the initial opportunity with another chance to participate in the programme. It also allows new applicants to propose projects that explore heritage narratives through co-creation and collaboration.

Organisations interested in applying are advised to ensure that all required documentation is completed and submitted before the deadline. Further details, including application procedures and programme updates, are available through the official platforms associated with the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Southern Africa initiative.
