Namibia Celebrates Bronze as Suren Shines at Africa Cycling Championship. Namibia delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Africa Road Cycling African Championships held in Kwale, Kenya, where junior cyclist Roger Suren secured a bronze medal in the junior men’s road race. His result marked a standout achievement for the national team during an event that brought together top young and elite cyclists from across the continent.
Suren’s podium finish led the junior men’s squad, with teammates Marco Thiel and Christian van der Westhuizen also completing the race. Thiel crossed the line in 14th place, while Van der Westhuizen finished 25th, contributing to a consistent team showing in a highly competitive field.
In the Elite Women’s Road Race, Namibia was represented by three riders who each completed the demanding course. Anri Greeff recorded a ninth place finish, securing a top ten result against a strong group of elite athletes. She was followed by Louise Breed in 33rd place and Olivia Shililifa in 36th, adding depth to Namibia’s presence in the event.
The junior women’s category also saw a noteworthy performance, with Delsia Janse van Vuuren finishing in fifth place. Her result placed her among the front group of riders, reflecting Namibia’s ongoing development in women’s cycling at junior level.
The weekend’s results demonstrated the national team’s competitive spirit and growing potential across age groups. With a medal in the junior men’s race and top ten finishes in the elite and junior women’s categories, Namibia concluded the championship with several promising performances.
The showing in Kenya adds momentum to the country’s cycling programme as athletes continue to gain exposure and experience on the continental stage.
