Bank of Namibia Launches Fintech Youth Programme to Drive Innovation and Job Creation

Bank of Namibia Launches Fintech Youth Programme to Drive Innovation and Job Creation. The Bank of Namibia hosted the Fintech Futures 2025 Thought Leadership Forum yesterday under the theme “Unlocking Youth Potential and Job Creation through Innovations of Tomorrow.” The event convened policymakers, innovators, and development partners to explore how fintech can drive inclusive economic growth and sustainable employment opportunities in Namibia’s digital economy.

Discussions were led by Governor Dr. Johannes !Gawaxab and Dr. Michael Humavindu, Executive Director at the Ministry of Finance, who emphasized the importance of modernising regulation, investing in digital public infrastructure, and developing future-ready skills among young Namibians.

Panel sessions examined how collaboration between education institutions, startup incubators, and financial organisations can help close the digital skills gap and enhance access to capital. The discussions also highlighted the role of youth in shaping a thriving fintech ecosystem that supports innovation-driven entrepreneurship and long-term national competitiveness.

A key highlight of the forum was the official launch of the Fintech Youth Programme, a new flagship initiative by the Bank of Namibia. The programme aims to empower youth-led fintech startups through mentorship, funding opportunities, and regulatory support. It also seeks to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors to accelerate financial inclusion and job creation.

By fostering an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, the initiative aligns with Namibia’s broader vision of building a resilient, technology-driven economy that prioritizes opportunity for the country’s young population.
