Namibia Defends Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championship Title in Eswatini. Namibia’s national swimming team has successfully defended its championship title at the 21st Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championship held in Eswatini. The event, which featured both pool swimming (3–6 September) and open water events (7 September), brought together more than 300 swimmers from 12 nations across the continent.

The Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation (NASFED) sent a squad of 23 swimmers to compete, following their 2024 double victory in pool and open water events. Once again, Namibia proved dominant, securing the overall championship title for the second consecutive year.

In the final combined pool swimming standings, Namibia topped the leaderboard with 2,254.5 points, ahead of South Africa with 2,021 points and Zimbabwe in third place with 1,703 points. Botswana came in fourth with 1,321 points, followed by Seychelles (1,229.5), Angola (1,163.5), Zambia (1,044.5), Madagascar (1,006), Mozambique (861), Eswatini (593.5), Malawi (340.5) and Mauritius (306).

The championship provided a platform for athletes from across the region to test their abilities against strong competition, while also strengthening collaboration and sporting ties among African nations. For Namibia, the victory highlights the depth of talent within its aquatic sports programme and reaffirms its standing as a leading force in regional swimming.

The competition was marked by high energy and strong performances across all disciplines, with athletes delivering results that reflected months of preparation and commitment. Namibia’s success at the event is expected to further inspire the growth of aquatic sports at home, building on the momentum created by consecutive championship wins.
