President Nandi-Ndaitwah Urges Media to Highlight Kavango Green Schemes

President Nandi-Ndaitwah Urges Media to Highlight Kavango Green Schemes. Journalists from the Kavango region were given an opportunity to interact with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah during her recent visit to the Kavango East Region, where she emphasized the importance of promoting the country’s green schemes.

Addressing members of the media, the president encouraged increased coverage of the progress made in government-owned agricultural projects, stressing that food production remains a central priority for Namibia’s development agenda.

“The media plays a vital role in informing the public, and highlighting the work being done at the green schemes will help build awareness of their contribution to food security,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said. She added that government will continue to ensure the nation is adequately supplied with food through these projects.

Nandi-Ndaitwah further noted that by next year she intends to return to the region to assess how the schemes have advanced. She expressed confidence that the transformation of these initiatives will significantly boost local food production and strengthen the country’s overall food security.

Her two-day working visit to the Kavango regions includes inspection of all government-owned green schemes and meetings with traditional leaders. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to monitor agricultural projects and engage with communities about their progress and challenges.

Green schemes in the Kavango regions have long been considered vital to Namibia’s agricultural output, with the potential to contribute to reducing reliance on food imports. The president’s call for stronger media reporting underscores the role of communication in fostering public understanding of the schemes’ impact.
