Agribank Strengthens Regional Ties Through Strategic Collaboration with South Africa’s Land Bank. As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural financing and institutional capacity, Agribank this week held strategic engagements with South Africa’s Land Bank, signaling a renewed commitment to regional collaboration in the agricultural sector.
The meetings were led by Agribank Board Chairperson Josephat Mwatotele, along with CEO Dr. Raphael Karuaihe and members of the executive team. The discussions focused on gaining insights into Land Bank’s transformation journey, its key achievements, and lessons learned from its experience in supporting agricultural development and financing.
These engagements culminated in an endorsement to review the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. Priority areas identified for collaboration include exchange programmes, skills transfer, information sharing, and development across the agricultural value chain.
Mr. Mwatotele highlighted the importance of learning from regional peers to strengthen Agribank’s operational excellence and support for Namibia’s farmers. “Engaging with Land Bank allows us to benchmark against best practices, enhance our institutional knowledge, and ensure that Agribank continues to provide innovative and effective support to our agricultural sector,” he said.
Dr. Karuaihe added that the renewed partnership reflects Agribank’s commitment to advancing sustainable growth in Namibia’s agriculture. “By collaborating with regional institutions, we can unlock new opportunities for knowledge transfer, improve efficiency, and build capacity that benefits farmers and the broader agricultural economy,” he noted.
This strategic collaboration underscores Agribank’s vision of not only financing agriculture but also fostering a knowledge-driven, resilient, and sustainable agricultural sector in Namibia. Through partnerships like this, Agribank aims to ensure that local farmers have access to the tools, expertise, and resources needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive regional and global market.
