Young Namibian Table Tennis Talents Shine at Africa Youth Championship in Nigeria

Young Namibian Table Tennis Talents Shine at Africa Youth Championship in Nigeria. Namibia’s next generation of table tennis talent took their skills to the continental stage this past week, as seven promising young athletes represented the country at the 2025 ITTF Africa Youth Championship in Nigeria.

The team’s participation, made possible through the support of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), marks a major milestone for the Namibian Table Tennis Association (NTTA) in its mission to nurture youth talent and elevate the sport nationally.

Held under the auspices of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the Africa Youth Championship welcomed competitors from 19 nations, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere that tested technical skills, mental resilience, and sporting spirit.

The Namibian delegation competed in both team and individual categories, gaining valuable experience against some of the continent’s most seasoned junior players. While medals proved elusive this time, the young Namibians walked away with greater confidence, sharpened skills, and the exposure needed to grow into top-level athletes.

NTTA President remarked that this opportunity represents a key step in building a stronger foundation for Namibian table tennis. “International exposure is crucial for our athletes’ development. These young players not only represented Namibia with pride but also brought back lessons that will shape their training, discipline, and competitive edge for years to come.”

Parents, coaches, and supporters across Namibia have applauded the athletes for their hard work and dedication. The NTTA has confirmed that it will continue seeking out competitive platforms across Africa and beyond to help its players thrive.

This participation also aligns with Namibia’s broader sporting goals of empowering youth through international competition and strengthening the country’s visibility in global sports.
