Authorities Tackle Sewer Infrastructure Damage Along Arebbusch River After Heavy Rains

Authorities Tackle Sewer Infrastructure Damage Along Arebbusch River After Heavy Rains. City authorities have issued a cautionary notice to residents following extensive damage to sewer infrastructure along the Arebbusch River, caused by recent heavy rainfall.

The affected stretch runs from Aviation Road near Eros Airport to the Western Bypass close to Acacia, where flooding and runoff have led to large volumes of sand and debris entering the sewer system. This has significantly hampered routine maintenance and unblocking operations.

According to officials, the compromised pipeline remains active and cannot be isolated, as there are no valves along the affected section. The sewer lines involved measure up to 450 mm in diameter, further complicating the technical response.

Maintenance teams are currently on-site undertaking urgent repairs and detailed inspections to determine the full extent of the damage and any further structural weaknesses. Officials noted that the blockage and debris buildup have increased pressure on the system, requiring time-intensive intervention.

In a public notice, the city urged residents to remain patient and assured them that every effort is being made to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible. Authorities emphasized the importance of public cooperation during this period, especially as repair teams continue to work under challenging and high-flow conditions.
