Windhoek Launches N$10,000 Video Challenge to Inspire Climate Action

Windhoek Launches N$10,000 Video Challenge to Inspire Climate Action. The City of Windhoek has officially launched a creative video competition aimed at empowering young Namibians to champion environmental awareness. Targeting citizens aged 19 to 35, the initiative calls on filmmakers, storytellers, and environmental advocates to submit short videos that highlight key themes under the banner of Zero Emissions Week 2025.

Participants are required to create a compelling 3 to 5-minute video exploring environmental topics such as sustainable mobility, air pollution prevention, zero emissions, or climate-conscious living. The project is part of the city’s broader commitment to sustainability, in line with its vision to become a sustainable and caring city by 2027.

The winning entry will receive a N$10,000 cash prize and will be screened during a special event hosted by the City of Windhoek on 17 September 2025. The award ceremony will take place at the City of Windhoek Council Chambers at 09:00.

Submissions close on 4 September 2025, and entries can be submitted online via the QR code provided on the official poster.

This initiative is supported under the MOVE Windhoek campaign, which promotes clean transport and environmental stewardship across the capital. By encouraging young voices to share stories of sustainability, the city aims to raise awareness and drive positive change in how residents interact with their environment.

The competition not only offers a financial incentive but also gives young creatives a platform to contribute meaningfully to national dialogue around climate change and greener urban living.
