Standard Bank Namibia Names Darius van Zyl as Head of Private Bank and Wealth. Standard Bank Namibia has announced the appointment of Darius van Zyl as its new Head of Private Bank and Wealth, with effect from 5 January 2026.
Van Zyl brings more than 15 years of experience across finance, corporate and international tax consulting, strategic leadership, and banking. His professional background includes extensive work in advisory and leadership roles, positioning him to oversee the bank’s private banking and wealth management operations.
He is a registered member of the Namibia Institute of Professional Accountants and holds academic qualifications in Accounting Sciences, Finance and Taxation. In addition, van Zyl holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom.
In outlining his priorities for the division, van Zyl said the focus will be on strengthening a client-centric approach for high net worth clients. He indicated that service excellence and long-term partnerships would underpin the division’s engagement model, with an emphasis on understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions.
Van Zyl highlighted growth opportunities within the Namibian economy and noted the importance of aligning private banking and wealth services with broader economic developments. He also pointed to digitisation and process efficiency as areas that can enhance service delivery and support sustainable growth within the division.
In addition to client and operational priorities, van Zyl emphasised the role of leadership in achieving long-term performance. He stated that team empowerment, transformational leadership, diversity, and inclusion would be key elements in building a high-performing and resilient private banking and wealth team.
Standard Bank Namibia said the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening leadership within its business units. The bank noted that the private banking and wealth division plays an important role in serving high net worth clients and contributing to the institution’s broader strategic objectives in Namibia.
