PETROFUND Unveils Permanent Headquarters

PETROFUND Unveils Permanent Headquarters. The Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) has officially opened its new head office in Windhoek, a development that signals a strengthened institutional presence and long-term commitment to supporting skills growth in Namibia’s emerging petroleum industry. The inauguration was led by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. Gaudentia Kröhne, who commended the milestone as a significant step forward for the organisation.

Hon. Kröhne was joined by the Special Advisor to the President and Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit, Hon. Kornelia Shilunga, along with representatives from the oil and gas sector and invited stakeholders. The ceremony highlighted the role of PETROFUND in preparing Namibians for opportunities within the rapidly evolving upstream petroleum space.

In her address, the Deputy Minister congratulated the PETROFUND Board of Trustees and its staff for their efforts in securing the facility, emphasising the importance of strong institutional capacity as Namibia positions itself for future growth in the sector. She noted that PETROFUND’s mandate remains central to developing the human capital required to support national participation in oil and gas activities.

The building, fully acquired by PETROFUND in 2021, now stands as the organisation’s permanent headquarters. Its acquisition reflects the Fund’s long-term strategy to expand and enhance its operations, ensuring that training programmes, scholarships, and capacity building initiatives continue to reach Namibians across the country.

Stakeholders at the event highlighted the increasing need for specialised skills as exploration and development activities grow. PETROFUND’s new headquarters is expected to play a key role in coordinating educational support, strengthening partnerships, and improving service delivery within the sector.

The inauguration marks an important chapter for PETROFUND as it continues to invest in Namibia’s future petroleum workforce and contribute to the nation’s broader economic aspirations.
