Old Mutual Foundation Raises Investment to N$1.5 Million for 12 Namibian SSchools. The Old Mutual Foundation has increased its investment in the Chair and Desk Initiative to N$1.5 million in 2026, with 12 schools across four regions selected to benefit from the programme.

The latest commitment represents the largest investment in the initiative since it was launched in 2023. In previous years, the Foundation invested N$1 million in the programme.

More than 2,000 learners are expected to benefit from the 2026 initiative, which will provide new classroom furniture at selected schools while also supporting the repair and restoration of existing desks and chairs.

In the Oshikoto Region, Ondera Combined School and Onamishu Combined School have been selected for new furniture, while Nehale Secondary School will receive furniture repairs.

In the Omusati Region, Holden Uulenga Combined School and Jerry Ekandjo Combined School will receive new furniture. Uahekua Herunga Primary School has been selected for repairs.

The Ohangwena Region beneficiaries are Ondobe Secondary School and Nanghonda Combined School, which will receive new furniture, and Elakalapwa Combined School, which will receive repairs.

In Otjozondjupa, Okondjatu Combined School and Tsumkwe Secondary School will receive new furniture, while Osire Primary School will benefit from repairs.

The initiative also incorporates skills development through partnerships with vocational training institutions. New desks and chairs will be manufactured, while existing furniture will be repaired and restored.

In 2026, the Old Mutual Foundation will again work with two vocational training centres. The partnerships will provide practical learning opportunities for vocational learners while contributing to the delivery of furniture solutions for participating schools.

All furniture manufacturing, refurbishment and deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of February 2027.
