NSFAF Launches 2026 Online Applications for Subsidised Tertiary Education. The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture officially launched the 2026 NSFAF Online Applications today, marking a major step in Namibia’s transition to the Subsidised Tertiary Education Funding Model. The launch is intended to streamline access to financial support for eligible students and expand participation in higher education.
Under the new funding model, NSFAF will cover registration and tuition fees for all qualifying students. Additionally, students from households with a combined income of N$300,000 or less will receive non-tuition support to assist with living expenses during their studies. This approach aims to reduce financial barriers and improve opportunities for students across the country.
To support the start of the 2026 academic year, the first-quarter transfers have already been made to public tertiary institutions. The University of Namibia (UNAM) received N$221 million, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) N$166 million, NAMCOL N$16 million, and the Namibia Training Authority’s Public TVET institutions N$25 million.
For private institutions, 20 percent of the N$234 million overall allocation will be disbursed following verification of student information, with payments scheduled for early February. Officials emphasised that these measures ensure the smooth rollout of the subsidised tertiary education initiative while maintaining transparency and accountability.
NSFAF online applications for 2026 are open from 26 January to 31 March 2026. Prospective students are encouraged to submit applications through the NSFAF website at www.nsfaf.na.
The launch reinforces the government’s commitment to improving access to tertiary education, supporting student welfare, and creating pathways for skills development that align with national economic and social priorities. By adopting an online application system, NSFAF aims to make the process more efficient, accessible, and inclusive for students across Namibia. This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students, providing financial security and enabling them to focus on their studies while contributing to the country’s broader development goals.
