Nedbank Namibia to Close Branches in Honour of Dr. Sam Nujoma

Nedbank Namibia to Close Branches in Honour of Dr. Sam Nujoma. Nedbank Namibia has announced a temporary closure of its branches and campus locations to pay tribute to the late Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, His Excellency Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma.

The bank will close for a half-day on Friday, 28 February, from 13:00, and will remain closed on Saturday, 1 March, in line with the national directive declaring a public holiday for the memorial and funeral proceedings.

Despite the closures, Nedbank Namibia’s digital banking services, ATMs, and customer support will continue to operate, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential financial services for customers.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Dr. Nujoma and to all Namibians mourning this great loss. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations,” the statement read.

Dr. Nujoma, a key figure in Namibia’s liberation struggle and its first president after independence in 1990, is widely regarded as the architect of the nation. His passing has prompted nationwide mourning, with businesses and institutions joining in commemorating his contributions.

The national memorial service and funeral are expected to draw dignitaries, leaders, and citizens paying their last respects to the late statesman.
