Namport Extends CEO Andrew Kanime’s Tenure to Drive Continued Growth and Innovation. The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) has officially renewed the contract of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Andrew Kanime, for another five-year term. The announcement reinforces the organisation’s commitment to maintaining strong leadership as it continues advancing Namibia’s maritime and logistics ambitions.

Since his appointment, Mr. Kanime has been instrumental in strengthening Namport’s operational efficiency and positioning the Port of Walvis Bay and the Port of Lüderitz as competitive regional trade gateways. His leadership has supported the authority’s mission to enhance Namibia’s role as a key logistics hub in southern Africa.

Namport acknowledged that Mr. Kanime’s continued leadership will provide strategic continuity, particularly as the organisation focuses on modernising port operations, embracing digital transformation, and improving service delivery to its clients. The renewal comes at a time when the maritime sector is increasingly vital to regional economic growth and cross-border trade.

Mr. Kanime’s next term will also see Namport deepen its focus on infrastructure expansion and sustainability initiatives, strengthening its capacity to handle growing cargo volumes and attract new shipping lines.

The renewal of his contract highlights the board’s confidence in his management and the progress achieved under his leadership. Namport continues to play a crucial role in connecting Namibia to global markets, supporting trade and logistics not only for the country but for the wider southern African region.
