Namibia Prepares for Rugby Showdown as Walvis Bay Hosts International Fixture. Namibia’s rugby community is gearing up for a major event as Walvisbay Private School prepares to host an exciting international clash between the Welwitschias and Uganda on 14 June 2025. The fixture forms part of Namibia’s broader preparations ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Organized in partnership with Synergy Events and the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU), the match promises a thrilling display of athleticism, strategy, and national pride. Fans from across the country are expected to attend, bringing a surge of energy to the coastal town.
Adding to the excitement is the “Win with NRU” competition. Every standard ticket purchase enters fans into a draw for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to watch the Springboks take on Italy at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on 5 July 2025. However, complimentary and suite tickets are not eligible for the draw.
Ticket prices are set at N$100 for regular stand access. Children aged 12 to 16 can attend for N$50 on open stands, while kids under 12 enter for free in the same section. Tickets can be purchased through the eTicket platform.
The fixture is more than just a rugby match—it is a chance to rally behind the national team, celebrate sport, and support Namibia’s ambitions on the world stage. With preparations for Rugby World Cup 2027 gaining momentum, the Welwitschias’ performance against Uganda will be closely watched by fans and selectors alike.
