Namibia Falls to Italy in Final Rugby Africa Cup Warm-Up Match

Namibia Falls to Italy in Final Rugby Africa Cup Warm-Up Match. Namibia’s senior rugby team suffered a tough 73–6 loss to Italy in a test match held on Friday afternoon at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek. The game served as the team’s final warm-up fixture ahead of the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup, which also serves as a qualifying tournament for future international competitions.

Despite strong local support and promising moments in the first half, Namibia struggled to contain the pace and precision of the Italian side, who capitalised on errors and converted multiple tries throughout the match. Namibia’s only points came from two penalties, with no tries recorded.

The Italian team displayed their international experience and depth, dominating both possession and territory. Their relentless attacking play and solid defence left little room for Namibia to respond.

Namibia’s coaching staff acknowledged the defeat but emphasised the importance of the match in preparing the squad for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup campaign in Uganda.

Namibia will now shift focus to the Rugby Africa Cup, where the team will aim to bounce back and secure qualification through strong performances in a competitive regional field.

Supporters are encouraged to continue rallying behind the team as they head to Uganda, with hopes of a stronger showing on the continental stage.
