Namibia and UAE Strengthen Trade Ties at High-Level Business Forum. Namibia took a significant step toward deepening economic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates during the Namibia–UAE High-Level Business Forum held today in Windhoek. The event brought together senior officials and business leaders to explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, welcomed the delegation led by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, who is on a one-day working visit accompanied by a high-level UAE business delegation spanning multiple sectors.
In her address, Minister Ashipala-Musavyi described the visit as a pivotal opportunity to expand structured economic partnerships between the two countries. She identified areas for cooperation including diamond value addition, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure, alongside emerging energy sectors such as oil, gas, and renewable energy, with a focus on green hydrogen.
The Minister emphasised that Namibia remains committed to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships that drive industrial development and sustainable growth, noting the importance of connecting local enterprises with international investors.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi and his delegation engaged with Namibian counterparts to identify concrete avenues for investment and trade, signalling a shared interest in expanding cross-border business relations. The forum also provided a platform for discussions on regulatory frameworks, investment incentives, and sector-specific collaborations.
The event was supported by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, which highlighted the country’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for foreign investment and industrial development.
Officials from both countries described the forum as an important step toward enhancing bilateral trade, facilitating knowledge exchange, and strengthening economic ties. The outcomes are expected to lay the groundwork for future agreements and initiatives that will advance Namibia’s economic diversification and foster sustainable industrial growth.
