Namibia Breweries and Rugby Union Renew Strategic Partnership Ahead of 2025 Season

Namibia Breweries and Rugby Union Renew Strategic Partnership Ahead of 2025 Season. Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), through its iconic Windhoek Beer brand, has officially renewed its partnership with the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU), reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the growth and development of rugby in the country.

The renewed agreement, announced in Windhoek, will continue to support a broad range of NRU initiatives — from national team preparations and grassroots development to community engagement and responsible drinking campaigns.

Speaking at the announcement, NBL Managing Director Waldemar von Lieres emphasized the broader impact of the partnership beyond sport. “This is more than a sponsorship — it’s a testament to our belief in Namibian sport as a unifying and inspiring force,” he said. “Rugby continues to be a source of national pride, and we are honoured to support the Namibia Rugby Union as they chart the path forward.”

Von Lieres added that the renewed collaboration aligns with NBL’s commitment to “brew a better Namibia” and foster positive community impact.

The renewed agreement arrives just in time for a busy 2025 calendar, with Namibia’s senior men’s national team preparing for the Africa Cup and a high-profile test match against Italy on 27 June at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

With the long-term goal of securing a spot at the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, this partnership provides a timely boost to The Welwitschias’ ambitions both on and off the pitch.
