Namdeb Marks World Environment Day 2025 with Sustainability Drive

Namdeb Marks World Environment Day 2025 with Sustainability Drive. Namdeb joined forces with the Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) and Debmarine Namibia to commemorate World Environment Day on 5 June 2025, reaffirming its commitment to environmentally responsible mining practices. The global event was celebrated under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”, highlighting the urgent need to reduce plastic waste and protect natural ecosystems.

The observance underscores Namdeb’s continued efforts to promote sustainability within Namibia’s mining sector. With operations that span both coastal and inland environments, Namdeb emphasized the importance of integrating environmental care into its daily activities.

Activities on the day included clean-up drives, internal awareness sessions, and educational campaigns that highlighted the link between mining operations and environmental stewardship. Namdeb, along with its industry counterparts NDTC and Debmarine, used the opportunity to spotlight initiatives already in place to minimize waste, recycle materials, and reduce plastic usage across operational sites.

The collaboration between these leading diamond industry players serves as a reminder of the growing role the mining sector can play in national and global sustainability goals.

World Environment Day 2025 offered a platform to not only reflect on progress but also recommit to reducing environmental footprints in both land- and marine-based mining operations. Namdeb’s participation further aligns with the broader vision of responsible resource management and long-term environmental accountability.
