Ministry Launches Business Management Training for Otjozondjupa Youth Under NYCS Programme. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture has commenced a new round of Business Management Training for young entrepreneurs under the Namibia Youth Credit Scheme (NYCS). The programme, running from 08 to 13 December 2025, is taking place in Rundu and includes 67 participants from the Otjozondjupa Region.
The training aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the foundational skills needed to start and manage sustainable businesses. The initiative forms part of the NYCS’ broader goal of supporting youth-led economic activity by providing capacity-building opportunities before participants can access credit facilities through the scheme.
As part of today’s programme, the group carried out a market research activity focused on identifying business opportunities within their communities. The activity encouraged participants to assess local needs, analyse potential demand for products and services, and explore avenues for viable business development. Facilitators noted that market research is an essential step in strengthening business planning and helping entrepreneurs make informed decisions.
The training is being led by a team of Youth Officers, including Ms. Maria Ribebe, Ms. Bernadine Nangolo, Ms. Tuuliki Sackaria, Mr. Elia Fasa Kandji, Mr. Reino Munyima, and Mr. Thomas Mburumba. The facilitators are guiding participants through topics such as financial management, customer relations, business registration processes, and general enterprise development.
According to the Ministry, empowering young people with practical entrepreneurial skills remains a national priority. The ongoing NYCS training sessions are designed to ensure that participants have both the knowledge and confidence to pursue income-generating ventures that can contribute to regional economic growth.
The programme will continue throughout the week, with more sessions scheduled to cover key elements of business management. Graduates of the training will be better positioned to proceed with formal applications for support under the NYCS.
