Lüderitz Women Entrepreneurs Gain Digital Literacy Training Through EntreprenHER Programme. Women microentrepreneurs in Lüderitz have begun a week-long Digital Literacy training under the EntreprenHER Programme, a Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare (MGECW) initiative in partnership with UN Women and supported by the De Beers Group.
The training, running from 22 to 26 September 2025, is being facilitated by the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Satellite Campus in Lüderitz. It builds on earlier capacity-building efforts delivered through Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) packages, extending support to women in critical areas such as digital literacy, climate-smart agriculture, and financial literacy.
For many of the participants, this marks their first hands-on experience using computers. The programme aims to equip women with practical skills to engage in digital trade, expand their market reach, and improve business sustainability. Participants expressed enthusiasm at the opportunity to learn tools that can help them modernise and scale their ventures.
Speaking at the opening, Ms. Rosina Museke-Mubonenwa, Director of Community Development, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of digital empowerment in strengthening women-led businesses. She stressed that such initiatives not only provide technical skills but also open new pathways for women to participate more effectively in Namibia’s evolving economy.
The EntreprenHER Programme continues to support women entrepreneurs beyond initial training, ensuring they have access to knowledge and resources to navigate new challenges. By introducing modules in digital trade, financial management, and climate adaptation, the programme underscores its focus on long-term impact and resilience.
