The Ministry is currently undertaking the construction of new school facilities on sites that were previously occupied by unregistered schools. This initiative aims to ensure that learners from these schools are fully integrated into the formal education system. According to the Ministry, the new buildings are scheduled to be completed and ready for use at the start of the 2026 school year in January.

As part of a wider development strategy, 60 new schools are planned for the Kavango East Region, with 25 schools specifically allocated to Ndama East. This large-scale rollout is expected to alleviate overcrowding in classrooms, expand access to education, and create a more conducive learning environment for thousands of learners.

The visit also included the Governor of Kavango East, Honourable Hamunyera Hambyuka, who joined the Prime Minister and Minister Steenkamp during their stop in the Ndama East area. The presence of senior government leaders highlighted the importance placed on education as a foundation for sustainable community development.

The Ndama community welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, expressing optimism that the new schools will bring lasting benefits to children and families in the region. For local residents, the investment represents not just the construction of buildings, but a commitment to improved opportunities and a stronger future for the next generation.
