Fire Forces Temporary Closure of Mondesa Clinic in SSwakopmund. The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced the temporary closure of Mondesa Clinic in Swakopmund following a fire outbreak in the early hours of February 3. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
The closure of the clinic is expected to impact healthcare services in the area. In response, the Erongo Regional Health Directorate has advised residents to seek alternative medical services at other facilities.
Patients requiring antenatal care, family planning, and immunization services are encouraged to visit the Tamariskia Clinic and DRC Clinic. Meanwhile, individuals in need of wound care services can access treatment at the Swakopmund District Hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services, in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Transport, is working to restore services at Mondesa Clinic as soon as possible. However, authorities anticipate that nearby clinics may experience congestion, and they urge the public to cooperate during this period.
The Ministry has assured residents that further updates will be provided as the situation develops. In the meantime, they encourage those in need of assistance to reach out to Dr. L. Manane, Senior Medical Officer for Primary Health Care, or Dr. Anna Jonas, the Regional Director.
