ANOCA President Donates FIFA-Standard Football Field to Namibia. Namibia is set to benefit from a FIFA-standard football field valued at N$9 million, following a sponsorship announcement by Mustapha Beraff, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The announcement was made during Beraff’s official visit to Namibia for the ANOCA Zone VI General Assembly, currently taking place in Windhoek. The project will be implemented at the Namibia National Olympic Committee OlympAfrica Centre in Omaruru.
The sponsorship forms part of a continental partnership between ANOCA and FIFA, aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure across Africa. The initiative is part of a broader programme to develop football facilities at OlympAfrica Centres, with the goal of expanding access to sport for young people and promoting grassroots development.
Through the partnership, FIFA provides technical expertise and support to construct pitches that meet international standards, while ANOCA collaborates with National Olympic Committees to deliver the projects at community-based centres. Once completed, the Omaruru facility will provide young Namibians with access to modern sporting infrastructure and create more opportunities for participation in organised sport.
During the official opening ceremony of the General Assembly, Beraff also presented a commemorative trophy to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in recognition of Namibia’s commitment to sport development and its continued support of the Olympic Movement.
The new football field is expected to play a significant role in nurturing talent, strengthening community engagement, and advancing Namibia’s broader sports development agenda. It reflects ANOCA’s and FIFA’s shared vision of empowering African youth through sport and building sustainable pathways for future athletes.
