Amutse Conducts Project Inspection Tour in Lüderitz to Assess Key Economic Initiatives. The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Honourable Modestus Amutse, has undertaken a familiarisation visit to Lüderitz in the //Kharas Region, as part of an official tour aimed at reviewing projects within the mining, energy, industrialisation, and oil and gas sectors.

The visit formed part of the Ministry’s broader engagement programme to assess the status and progress of strategic initiatives under its portfolio. During the visit, Minister Amutse received briefings on several projects currently at various stages of development, with a focus on their role in supporting regional economic activity.

Among the sites visited was the Dias Wind Farm, where the Minister was briefed on the project’s operations and contribution to the energy landscape. The delegation also visited the Kudu Gas Project, which is earmarked for development, to review its current status and planned trajectory. The project has been identified as part of the country’s gas-related infrastructure initiatives.

The Minister further toured the Sperrgebiet Diamond Mining Area, where mining activities and regulatory frameworks were outlined. The visit provided an opportunity to review ongoing operations within one of the country’s established mining zones.

In addition, the delegation visited the Ombepo Wind Farm and several other projects located within the town of Lüderitz. These engagements allowed the Ministry to gather first-hand information on developments linked to renewable energy and industrial activities in the region.

According to the Ministry, the projects visited reflect a range of initiatives aligned with national priorities across energy generation, mining operations, and industrial development. The familiarisation visit also enabled direct interaction with project representatives and regional stakeholders.

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy stated that such visits form part of its ongoing efforts to monitor sectoral developments and strengthen coordination between government and project developers within the //Kharas Region.
