Namibia Reviews TVET Policy Against African Union Strategy for 2025 to 2034. Namibia is reviewing the alignment of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system with continental priorities through a three-day technical workshop taking place in Windhoek.

The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) is hosting the Technical Workshop on the Alignment of the National TVET Policy with the Continental TVET Strategy (CTVET) 2025 to 2034 from 1 to 3 September 2026.

The workshop is organised by the African Union Commission (AUC) Education, Science, Technology and Innovation division, in collaboration with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training.

Held under the theme, “Advancing Inclusive, Industry-Aligned and Future-Ready TVET Systems in Namibia,” the workshop brings together stakeholders from Namibia’s TVET sector.

The discussions are focused on assessing Namibia’s existing TVET policies, systems and practices against continental priorities, identifying strengths and gaps, and establishing strategic areas for strengthening the country’s TVET system.

Dr Lisho Mundia, Deputy Executive Director for the Department of Higher Education, Training, Research and Innovation, delivered the official opening statement on behalf of Executive Director Mr Mbumba Erastus Haitengela.

Mundia said the workshop provides an opportunity to assess whether Namibia’s TVET system is addressing areas including the relevance and quality of qualifications, training quality, industry participation and graduate employability.

The assessment also covers entrepreneurship development, digital and green skills, and quality assurance mechanisms.

Mundia emphasised that aligning Namibia’s system with the Continental TVET Strategy should not simply involve adopting a continental framework. Instead, he said the process should be used to examine Namibia’s national context, identify policy and institutional gaps, and determine practical areas for strengthening the country’s TVET system.
