NamPower and DRC’s SNEL Explore Regional Electricity CCooperation. NamPower hosted a delegation from the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s national electricity utility, Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL), for discussions on regional integration and potential future collaboration between the two power companies.

The courtesy visit took place in Windhoek on Tuesday, where SNEL Director General Professor Teddy Lwamba Muba and his delegation met with NamPower Managing Director Kahenge Haulofu and members of the utility’s Executive Committee.

According to NamPower, the meeting provided an opportunity for the two organisations to exchange ideas on matters relating to regional cooperation within the electricity sector and to discuss areas of possible future collaboration.

SNEL is the national electricity company of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is responsible for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity across the country.

The discussions form part of ongoing engagement between electricity utilities in the region as they explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation and share knowledge on issues affecting the energy sector.

While details of specific projects or agreements were not disclosed, the meeting highlighted the importance of dialogue between regional utilities as they consider ways to enhance collaboration.

The visit also provided executives from both organisations with an opportunity to exchange perspectives on their respective operations and discuss issues relevant to the electricity industry.

NamPower said the engagement focused on regional integration, reflecting continued interaction between power utilities across Southern Africa and neighbouring countries.
