Namibia Celebrates First Cohort of Graduates from Bank Windhoek Emerging Bankers Programme. Ten young Namibians have become the first graduates of the Bank Windhoek Emerging Bankers Programme after completing 18 months of structured training and mentorship. The initiative, supported by the Capricorn Foundation, aims to build a pipeline of banking talent, especially from rural and smaller towns.

Launched in mid-2024 with a N$1 million investment from the Capricorn Foundation, the programme offers participants hands-on exposure to banking functions across Bank Windhoek branches. During their training, the graduates rotated through various roles, gaining experience in customer service, operations, and financial products.

At the graduation, representatives from Bank Windhoek and the Capricorn Foundation praised the graduates for their commitment. The programme’s leadership highlighted that it was specifically designed to bring opportunity to under-served communities in smaller towns, through a mix of professional training and local branch placements. By combining structured mentorship with real work exposure, the Emerging Bankers Programme is seen as a model for tackling youth unemployment in Namibia. According to the Capricorn Group’s 2025 Social Value Report, some participants may transition into permanent roles, supporting the bank’s long-term human capital needs.

Bank Windhoek and the Capricorn Foundation say they intend to scale the programme, with a continued focus on inclusion, particularly of young people from remote areas.

This milestone marks a concrete step in Namibia’s efforts to develop a skilled, motivated workforce for its financial sector — while also contributing to broader social goals by empowering youth through sustainable career pathways
