NFA Confirms October 24 League Kick-Off as Sponsorship Talks Continue. The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has officially confirmed that all domestic football leagues will begin on 24 October 2025, even though a commercial sponsor has not yet been secured.
NFA Director of Marketing, Communications and Sales, Mr. Isack Hamata, stated that preparations are well underway to ensure that football activities resume as scheduled across all divisions. He emphasized that while the Debmarine Namibia Premier League’s three-year sponsorship deal has expired, discussions with potential corporate partners are ongoing.
“Yes, I can confirm on behalf of the NFA that all football activities in the country are set to start on 24 October 2025. No commercial sponsor has come on board yet, but talks are in progress with various companies to explore potential partnerships,” Hamata said.
The government has stepped in to provide financial support following the end of Debmarine’s sponsorship. Earlier this year, Deputy Minister of Sport, Hon. Dino Balloti, announced that the government has allocated N$10 million in funding to the NFA to support football operations and league activities.
This development comes as welcome news for clubs, players, and fans across the country, many of whom have been waiting for clarity on the new season’s start date. The NFA’s confirmation signals renewed momentum for Namibian football after months of uncertainty surrounding sponsorship and funding.
