Walvis Bay has officially welcomed Galito’s, the African-born flame-grilled chicken brand, as the company opened its newest outlet last week at the Port View Centre. The launch drew an immediate wave of customers, highlighting the town’s appetite for fresh dining experiences.

The decision to establish a branch in Walvis Bay forms part of Galito’s ongoing expansion strategy across Namibia. According to Director of Marketing and Communications, Anouk Nel-Savic, the coastal town was a natural choice given its cultural diversity, growing economy, and active tourism and trade sectors. From opening day, the restaurant has attracted families, professionals, and travelers keen to enjoy Galito’s signature meals.

The new branch offers a modern, spacious layout designed for comfort, with ample seating and an inviting atmosphere. Galito’s differentiates itself through its preparation method — Grade-A Namibian chicken is marinated for 24 hours before being flame-grilled, resulting in a healthier, flavour-packed alternative to fried options. Sourcing from Namibian Poultry further ensures high standards while supporting local farmers.

Beyond food, Galito’s has made community engagement central to its model. The Walvis Bay store has hired staff locally, blending experienced hospitality professionals with newcomers trained in customer service and restaurant operations. The branch also plans to engage in local sponsorships and events, reinforcing its role as a community partner.

Sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction and prioritizing local suppliers form part of operations. Menu additions exclusive to Namibia are also under development, catering to evolving tastes.

The Walvis Bay restaurant is Galito’s eighth store in Namibia since 2023. With plans to reach 12 outlets by the end of 2025 and a long-term goal of 30 by 2030, the company projects the creation of 600 jobs nationwide.
