Bank of Namibia Rolls Out Nationwide Awareness Drive on Upgraded Banknotes and Coins

Bank of Namibia Rolls Out Nationwide Awareness Drive on Upgraded Banknotes and Coins. The Bank of Namibia is taking a proactive approach to public education with a nationwide outreach campaign aimed at familiarising citizens with the country’s newly upgraded currency. Following the official launch of the enhanced banknotes and newly introduced coins, the central bank is now meeting people where they are — from shopping malls to school halls — to ensure every Namibian can confidently identify and use the upgraded currency.

With the inclusion of state-of-the-art security features, the updated banknotes mark a significant step forward in securing Namibia’s financial system against counterfeiting. Recognising the importance of inclusive communication, the Bank has deployed teams to set up exhibition stands in high-traffic areas, conduct door-to-door visits with retailers, and host educational sessions in schools and community centres.

According to early feedback, the campaign is already making a difference. Many citizens are now better equipped to verify the authenticity of their money, and businesses across various sectors have responded positively by preparing their systems and staff for the transition.

“Empowering every citizen with knowledge about our currency is crucial,” a Bank of Namibia representative noted. “Our outreach strategy ensures that no one is left behind, regardless of location or background.”

As the currency rollout continues, the Bank remains committed to building trust, financial literacy, and confidence in the nation’s monetary system.
