Deputy Prime Minister Urges Youth to Embrace Skills, Innovation at Erongo Career Fair. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industrialisation, Mines and Energy, Hon. Natangue Ithete, delivered a motivating keynote at the 8th Erongo Regional Career Fair, calling on young Namibians to take charge of their futures through education, innovation, and community involvement.
Held in Omaruru, the career fair brought together students, educators, and industry leaders, with the DPM using the platform to stress the importance of aligning career paths with the evolving demands of the local and global job markets.
He encouraged youth to make full use of upcoming opportunities such as the government’s anticipated rollout of free tertiary education in various training programs from 2025. The initiative, he noted, is expected to expand access to technical and vocational skills, empowering more young people to contribute meaningfully to the Namibian economy.
The DPM also emphasised the need for youth to support local enterprises and prioritise patriotism by contributing positively to their communities.
A particularly heartfelt moment came when Hon. Ithete addressed the emotional wellbeing of young men, urging them to speak up about their struggles. “You matter, and we are here for you,” he said, calling for an end to the silence around mental health.
The Erongo Career Fair continues to be a critical platform for career development and mentorship across the region. The DPM’s address reinforced the importance of personal initiative, skills development, and community engagement as pillars of national progress.
