Despite the defeat, Botswana also advanced to the semi-finals after finishing second in the group, ensuring both teams progress to the knockout stage of the regional tournament.
Namibia’s win capped off a strong group stage performance, with a solid showing in both attack and defense. Senoritha from Namibia was named Player of the Match, recognised for her standout contributions on the field and her ability to control the tempo of the game.
The result means Namibia will face South Africa in the upcoming semi-finals — a matchup that is expected to deliver a high level of competition given both teams’ form. Botswana’s semi-final opponent will be determined following the conclusion of other group matches.
The COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship continues to serve as a vital platform for showcasing young female football talent in the Southern African region.
