City of Windhoek Strengthens Ties with Outapi Through Support for Olufuko Gala. The City of Windhoek reaffirmed its commitment to inter-municipal cooperation by participating in the Olufuko Fundraising Gala Dinner hosted in Outapi on 07 June 2025. This engagement marks another step in the growing collaboration between the City of Windhoek and the Outapi Town Council, which is formalized through an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Windhoek delegation was led by Deputy Mayor Councillor Clemencia Hanases, accompanied by Councillors Magdalena Lombardt and Maitjituavi Kavetu, along with a supporting technical official. Their attendance highlighted the City’s commitment to strengthening partnerships among local authorities across Namibia.

As part of its support, the City of Windhoek pledged a financial contribution of N$5,000.00 toward the Olufuko Festival initiative. The Olufuko Festival is a cultural and economic event that holds local significance for Outapi and its surrounding communities, offering a platform for social celebration, cultural preservation, and local economic stimulation.

The MoU between the two municipalities outlines areas of cooperation, with a strong emphasis on promoting local economic development. Participation in events such as the Olufuko Fundraising Gala forms part of this broader goal to foster mutual growth, knowledge exchange, and solidarity between urban centers and smaller towns.

Deputy Mayor Hanases noted that Windhoek remains committed to building stronger institutional relationships that support regional development initiatives and inclusive community engagement.
