Temporary Power Outage Scheduled for Henties Bay and Spitzkoppe on 22 May. Erongo RED has announced a planned power outage affecting parts of the Erongo Region on Thursday, 22 May 2025, as part of scheduled grid compliance testing being conducted by NamPower. The outage is set to take place from 11:00 to 13:00.
The two-hour interruption will impact the following areas:
- Henties Bay Town
- Spitzkoppe
- Telecom Namibia/TN Mobile
- NamWater
- Namib Fontein
- Verogenen
- Ebony Substations
- MTC
According to Erongo RED, the purpose of the outage is to facilitate NamPower’s grid compliance testing on the Khan Photovoltaic (PV) Plant. The utility has urged customers to treat all electrical installations as “live” during the period, as power could be restored at any time within the announced timeframe.
Erongo RED has issued a notice expressing regret for any inconvenience caused and encourages residents and businesses in the affected areas to make the necessary preparations ahead of time.
