President of Namibia Visits Botswana for Bilateral Talks on Key Development Sectors. The Ministry of International Relations has confirmed that Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, is undertaking an official visit to Botswana today, 15 May 2025.
The visit marks a significant engagement between the two neighbouring countries, with President Nandi-Ndaitwah scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of Botswana, Advocate Duma Gideon Boko. The two leaders will hold discussions on a range of bilateral, regional, and global matters of mutual interest.
Key focus areas of the talks will include strengthening cooperation in agriculture, tourism, energy, trade, transport, telecommunications, as well as defence and security. The discussions are expected to explore concrete opportunities that can benefit both nations through enhanced economic and strategic partnerships.
Botswana and Namibia share a long-standing relationship grounded in historical, cultural, and social linkages. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990, shortly after Namibia’s independence, the two countries have maintained warm bilateral ties based on principles of mutual respect, regional cooperation, and good neighbourliness.
