Namibia and Japan Commemorate National Day of Japan and Emperor Naruhito’s Birthday. The Embassy of Japan in Namibia recently hosted an event to celebrate the National Day of Japan and the birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. The Honourable Dr. Peya Mushelenga, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, attended the occasion as the guest of honour.

During his remarks, Dr. Mushelenga extended his best wishes to Emperor Naruhito, conveying hopes for the Emperor’s good health and continued happiness. He also used the opportunity to acknowledge the longstanding friendship between Namibia and Japan, noting the ongoing cooperation shared by the two countries.

Dr. Mushelenga highlighted the value of the bilateral relationship, recognizing Japan’s contributions to Namibia through various collaborative efforts. The Minister expressed appreciation for the partnership that exists, pointing to areas of cooperation that have contributed positively to Namibia’s development goals.

The event provided a platform to celebrate diplomatic ties and reflect on the shared commitment to mutual respect and support. Representatives from the diplomatic community, government officials, and invited guests attended the gathering to mark the occasion.

Japan’s National Day, which commemorates the birthday of the reigning Emperor, is observed annually. Emperor Naruhito, who ascended to the throne in 2019, continues to serve as a symbol of unity in Japan.
